St. John UCC Valmeyer dates back to 1907. Deeply rooted in German heritage, the church was built in the Mississippi River Valley. In 1993, the town of Valmeyer was one of many communities affected by the “Great Flood”. There was no going back to the original village. The village was re-located to higher ground, and a new church was built.
St. John UCC Valmeyer has a strong, faithful following, and is very active in the community. Each year, St. John, and neighboring St. Mary Catholic Church hold a Church Picnic. The picnic is well attended and is a highlight of the year for church members. Other events include a yearly Golf Tournament, Lenten fish fries, and making Apple Butter!
Led by a volunteer Consistory Board, there are many other organizations that make St. John’s so special. See our “Church Boards” page for more information, as well as contact information for each organization.
