WORSHIP SUSPENDED DUE TO COVID-19

Dear members and friends of St. John UCC, Valmeyer,

Grace and peace to you in these unusual times.

We have been advised by the Illinois South Conference to consider suspending all in-house worship services. The current recommendation from the Center for Disease Control is to suspend for eight weeks. The conference recommendation is a minimum of four weeks, up to eight weeks.

The St. John UCC Consistory has decided to suspend all in-house services for six weeks, with at-church worship services possibly starting back on Sunday, May 3rd. This date could change depending on new recommendations. We will keep you frequently updated as conditions and circumstances change.

During this time, the only people permitted in the building will be Pastor Elizabeth, Melissa, and the Consistory if needed. The only exceptions at this time will be a deep cleaning happening soon and a possible light inspection. Please respect this decision and stay safe while helping others to be safe, too.

These are difficult times, and difficult decisions. Please know your church leadership is addressing these issues with the utmost concern for the health and wellbeing of all.

Please remember our regular expenses won’t stop. Sending in your tithes and offerings to help financially during this time will be deeply appreciated. You may mail them to the church, or contribute electronically.

We are working on ways to get some type of electronic or at-home worship experience to you, so stay tuned. Though we are not able to join together in person right now, we are still Christ’s church, connected through God’s love. Please take care of yourselves, your neighbors and loved ones, and each other. We stand ready to assist in whatever ways we can. Kindly help us know of any unmet needs.

Please share this information with those who do not have access to email or Facebook.

In prayer and Christ’s love,

Gayle McCarthy, Consistory president

Rev. Elizabeth Terrill, intentional interim pastor
